Hey!! It’s been a few months since my last update, and I left off the night before our dream Disney cruise!!! Unfortunately, right after the cruise, my mom had some major heart issues and multiple hospital stays in Florida. She was eventually transferred home to Wisconsin, where she had a double bypass. It’s now been two months, and her recovery is going well. It was a really traumatic and mentally exhausting time, but praise God everything worked out.
Now, onto the cruise π
Our adventure officially kicked off on Monday when we left Port Orleans Resort and headed to Port Canaveral. Pulling up and seeing the ship for the first time was surreal. We were also lucky enough to spot Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Adventure, which was so cool! The kids were especially amazed by the roller coaster onboard—instant excitement. That ship sails out of Asia, so we’re adding it to our “someday” list for sure.
Cinderella and Prince Eric welcomed us aboard!Emma and I had SO much fun decorating our door LILO and Stitch themed! This was everyone’s first cruise—except me. I went on a Carnival cruise with my dad when I was 13, but I honestly don’t remember much of it!
The ship itself was incredible. So beautiful, so detailed, and completely Disney—which made it extra magical for our family, especially at the kids’ ages right now. We sailed on the Disney Wish, and it had great quick-service dining and, of course, the real highlight… unlimited soft-serve ice cream π
Disney cruise line is known for the guests participating in fish extender exchanges! You leave a little pocket hanger outside your door and you come back to little surprises. It was so exciting coming back after a busy day and finding goodies and treasures in our extender!! We had the most fun however paying it forward and filling others fish extenders!
The top deck was packed with things to do—multiple pools, and the AquaMouse (an immersive water slide). Riding it and looking down through the clear tube at the ocean below was such a wild experience. There was also “Funnel Vision,” basically a giant screen playing Disney movies all day long. Some of my favorite memories were just sitting on the top deck at night, under the stars, all together—laughing, drinking hot chocolate, and watching movies. Those are the moments I’ll remember forever.
We had two port days: Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. In Nassau, we decided to stay on the ship and do the Incredicourse—an inflatable obstacle course. The kids beat me every single time, haha.
At Castaway Cay, we got off the ship and spent the day at the beach. The water was a little chilly, but it didn’t stop us—we had such a relaxing, fun day. The kids saw so many characters, including Captain Jack Sparrow, which was a highlight for them. Honestly, all of our character interactions (on the ship and on land) were amazing. Coming from Disney World, it was so fun to see everyone in their cruise outfits. We also discovered a new obsession—collecting autographs from the characters!
Fireworks over the ocean on pirate night! π
CHURRO MICKEY WAFFLES! These were so hyped up- so we were hoping they were as good as everyone said. Amazing! We dream of these little waffles!
There was SO much to do on the ship. We’re usually go-go-go at home, so I really had to remind myself to slow down, sit on the balcony with a Mickey bar, and not feel like we had to do everything. Some of the best moments were the simplest ones. Luke and I also had our nightly tradition of ordering buffalo wings from room service—honestly, such a fun little memory. And it was pretty cool getting to see the new Zootopia movie in one of the onboard theaters!
Dinner each night was a highlight, followed by a Broadway style show. Every restaurant had a different theme and experience. The first night we went to 1923, which is inspired by the founding year of Disney. It was the most formal dining room, and somehow we got the BEST table—right by the window. Eating dinner while looking out at the ocean was just… unreal.
Next was the Marvel restaurant, where we got to be part of an interactive show helping the Avengers save the world—Spider-Man even made an appearance at the end! And our last themed dinner was Frozen, where we celebrated Anna and Kristoff’s engagement. So cute and so fun!
The Broadway-style shows after dinner were also so well done—Disney really knows how to do entertainment. Our kiddos for a few hours did enjoy Disney’s kids club. The kiddos had many rooms to choose from including; Star wars, a princess room, Walt's engineering lab to name a few.. and to be honest I’m so jealous! They rode VR roller coasters, designed their own marvel characters and had a great time with other kids!
The Wish also has a Star Wars lounge that Mark and I got to enjoy when the kids were in the kids club. (We also did bring them back for a family night too!)
Overall, this cruise was a total bucket list experience for me. Getting to see the kids have so much joy, try so many new things, and make memories together, made it worth every single penny. I'm already planning our next one!
Thank you so much for reading
Love,
Jen, Mark, Luke, and Emma
